The Center to Assist and Protect Child Rights of Nepal (CAPCRON) is a non-governmental organization established in 1991 AD committed to promoting and safeguarding the rights of children, youth and women in Nepal. Since 2023, CAPCRON has also been affiliated with UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
Our primary focus is on advocating for policies and legal reforms that strengthen juvenile justice and protect the rights of children entangled in the legal system. We also provide legal support to children in conflict with the law and women while actively working to reduce gender disparities within communities.
Our organization actively works to raise awareness, educate communities on the rights of children, youth and women, and underline the importance of juvenile justice, particularly in marginalized areas. Furthermore, we advocate for policies and programs aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency, gender-based violence, and promoting positive youth development.
CAPCRON is an established and respected force in Nepal, having operated independently in 17 districts since its founding in 1991. Our relentless commitment to addressing the increasing challenges faced by marginalized children, children in conflict with the law, young population and gender disparities in society makes us a reliable, innovative, and impactful NGO in Nepal.

Current Status

With over 32 years of operational experience, CAPCRON has successfully executed more than 20 projects in various fields, including juvenile welfare, youth, and women empowerment, advocacy, awareness campaigns, and lobbying, among others. Notably, CAPCRON’s most recent project focuses on empowering youth by nurturing their capacities and educating them about the fundamental principles of democracy, active participation, and the importance of respecting and implementing their rights, specifically, those outlined in Article 12 of the UNCRC, which pertains to the Right to expression and participation.
Furthermore, CAPCRON has joined forces with a dedicated team of young volunteers to organize bi-monthly programs across specific locations in the Kathmandu Valley. These programs aim to raise awareness among young individuals about their rights, foster education, and emphasize the significance of cultivating healthy family relationships.
Many of CAPCRON’s previous projects have come to fruition through collaboration and support from both national and international agencies. These incredible partners include Save The Children UK, Save the Children Norway, Action Aid, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), International Labor Organization (ILO), and Shapla Neer, Advocates Sansfrointer, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the Lalitpur Sub Municipality of Nepal, among others.
